Questions?
You choose your favorite photo to upload via the input field on the HoofPrint Product Page. We accept JPGs. and PNGs, For best results, use high-resolution images (at least 300 DPI).
- High Contrast: Clear distinction between the subject and the background.
- Good Lighting: Shadows and texture on the horse help define the muscles, so avoid flat or overly dark lighting. Outside lighting is best with the sun behind the camera.
- High Resolution: The clearer the photo, the more detailed your model will be. Most modern smartphone cameras work well.
- For a horse standing alone: can be with or without tack. A direct side angle is the best. 90% to the horse, where you can see nose to tail with nothing in the way in front. No lead ropes will show up. Ears up are always good 😊
- For a horse in action: Trotting, walking, and cantering are all workable. Side angle nose to tail and all 4 legs visible. If the front and/or back hoofs are touching, it won’t work; space between the legs is important. Mane and tail can have movement, but not excessively.
- For a horse with a rider: Standing is the most reliable, with hands touching or on top of the mane. Reins can be a challenge and may not always be rendered reliably yet. Small turns of the head are fine.
- Action shots: Jumping, barrel racing, etc., is fun! But the picture should be an evenly balanced shot – Crest releases and no jumping ahead if possible. Minimal jump standards in the picture work best as they don’t block the shot.
- Cantering, trotting, poles, and walking work well. Low hands, sitting deep in the saddle.
